ABOUT THERAPY

I offer a safe and therapeutic space where people can more fully explore the difficulties with which they are struggling.  I work with clients to help them develop a better understanding of these difficulties, how they might have emerged and how to find ways of managing them differently.

Expressing and exploring difficult feelings and relationships is often undertaken more easily with the support of a non–judgemental outsider who has a professional expertise in opening up conversations and exploring meanings.  Therapy can help people when they are feeling overwhelmed, sad or angry; when they’re not sure what to do for the best; or when they feel stuck in repeating patterns of hurtful or harmful behaviours. Therapy can support people to build on their strengths and to make useful changes in their relationships and in their lives.

I am trained in four different therapeutic approaches: CBT, Systemic, Psychodynamic and Person Centred.  I consider these to be a toolbox, which I can call on depending on the wishes and needs of each person and their relationships with other.  I therefore work collaboratively and flexibly integrating a mixture of approaches as appropriate to each client and what they want to achieve through therapy. I also draw on the evidence base of psychological and systemic research and theories to support clients to develop a route through their problems.
